Kindle essentials

I’m trying to go COMPLETELY digital with my books this year. It won’t be 100% of course, but in the main I’m trying! So that means I’m using my Kindle A LOT more. I’ve had the bare essentials at the start of the year, but I’ve also started collecting more useful accessories. These are my essentials.

1. Kindle Paperwhite

The Paperwhite is a crowd favorite- most to all have this version and love it! I had the 2017 one for a long time before I upgraded last year and I have never looked back. There’s the basic one (the first Kindle I ever had), the Paperwhite, the Oasis and The Scribe. Here’s a small comparison:

For even more comparable stats head over to Amazon and search for “kindle” then keep scrolling down until you see the comparison chart.

2. clear Kindle case

Not only does it protect the back of your Kindle from scratches, it’s perfect for holding all the cute stickers you might have without permanently adhering them to the Kindle itself (trust me, peeling those suckers off is a workout). Or in my case, a cute insert. It’s also ideal to attach a magnetic ring on for your Popsocket. More on that later.

3. Kindle pillow stand

I just got this one, but there’s also this one and mom has this one that she carries around the house like a second skin. The one I have is great for sitting down of course, but it’s ideal for reading on your side. It has a fully adjustable neck so you can set your kindle to your preferred angle. Then when you also get the remote control page turner, it’s the ULTIMATE reading experience.

I had major plans to get some housework done today, but instead I’m here. I ain’t mad about it. #booktok #readingsetup #laborday

4. Remote control page turner

This thing is a game changer. Now, we all realize that raising your arm and simply touching the screen to turn the page of a Kindle is not that taxing, in fact it shouldn’t be, but if you spend hours reading the action becomes monotonous and well… taxing. Say goodbye to that #firstworldproblem by getting a remote control page turner! Not to mention that when it’s like 10º and you get all comfy under your favorite blanket having a remote controlled page turner means you don’t have to remove your hand from the warm cocoon you made for it just to turn the page. Seriously- get this.

5. magnetic stand/ring/pop socket

As I alluded to earlier, you’ll want to get a magnetic base, sticker ring and pop socket (or something similar). Just as a phone grip makes holding your phone easier to manage, so does having one on your Kindle. I’ve had multiple styles that I used to stick directly to the Kindle (yes, I’m cringing just typing that), but now I have this one with the magnetic base and ring sticker (that’s stuck on the case, not on my device)! Let me tell ya, that sucker won’t come off.

6. Kindle Unlimited

Kindle Unlimited is basically a giant library. And I know we should be supporting libraries etc, but when I’m given a deadline to read a book, it immediately makes me want to NEVER read the book. So, the biggest draw for me was that Kindle Unlimited doesn’t give you a due date to return the book you borrow. Okay yes, not all titles will be on KU, but there are some great ones!

7. Kindle case inserts and stickers

I have yet to find these card stock inserts on Amazon, but Endless TBR on Etsy has a lot of really cute ones! There are a couple of other shops on Etsy that also sell them, but so far, Endless TBR is my favorite!

Now on to the stickers- there are seriously a gazillion shops on Etsy that sell stickers! Here are just a few favorites:

Bibliopressed
OddSprout
My Secret Copy
Mile Long TBR
Mango Twine
Petunias and Pages
Life Bespoke
Coffee and a Bookcase
Scrappy Stitcher Co.

I’m always on the lookout for more bookish shops! So if you have any suggestions drop them in a comment.

From books, beauty, desk, kitchen, and cleaning essentials- you can find all my favorites here!
